Title: Power of Lies (The Dark Orchid Book 1) Pdf
That's the first thing Jaeda learns when she's named as the Chosen. The mage needs a sacrifice, and she's willing to give it. Maybe too willing. After all, this man is lust incarnate; a woman would have to be insane not to want him, even if he is dangerous.
But desiring someone's body is very different from falling in love. In her line of work, the two must never be confused. She doesn't even know his name! He's simply The Jackal, a terrifyingly powerful sex mage, and she's his altar. Her lust fuels him. He needs it.
And that puts her in control.
Now, she gets to spend her days with a mage who wields sex like a weapon and his assistant who's as irresistible as some long-lost god brought to life. The things they do to her body are amazing, and the rest? These men want to spoil her with the kind of riches she's always dreamed of. It's the best job she can imagine.
Unfortunately, it's never that easy. This is supposed to be about making magic - that's it. Feelings have no place in a mage's temple. Affection is a curse. But when the enemy decides she'll make the perfect weapon to steal the Jackal's power, what's she supposed to do? After all, she's just a stupid girl caught in the middle. Her job is to just lie back and take it.
Except, someone's been lying.
It might even be her.
POWER OF LIES is a complete novel with a reverse harem, polyamorous storyline. It is intended for a mature audience due to the presence of consensual sex, group sex, M/M scenes, and plenty of vulgar language - as well as some potentially triggering violence since the bad guys don't always play nice. While this is a love story, it may not be right for all readers.
Came In Like A Wrecking Ball Are you ready for the unexpected? Then Power of Lies needs to be the next book you read.Hadley is no doubt a determined author, one who pushes boundaries and asks her readers to dig deep inside themselves and answer the tough questions. This was a surprise release for her readers and no doubt after the tumultuous differences between Rise of the Iliri and The Demons Muse series, I am sure, like myself, they did not know what to expect. Those questions are now long gone. You can see from the reviews and the pleased uproar from around the RH community that this book hit it out of the park. It was almost like 2018’s best kept secret. The release at the beginning of 2019 was like Hadley breathing life into the new year. This book has your darkest, most shameful desires in them. It pushes the anti-hero to the forefront. It has no discrimination when it comes to love or desire. This book is a perfect blend of Reverse Harem and Poly and I honestly didn’t think it could be done. But ladies and gentleman, it has been done. You will not be disappointed with this new fantasy series from Hadley. It will keep you on the edge of your seat while making you long to crawl under your sheets.Wow! This new universe is expansive, compelling and just as well plotted as everything this woman sets her pen to. Jade is a fascinating and complex character who holds the story, vaulting off the intensity of her Mage, their situation and the two men who live to support them. It’s about love, lust, power and the strength of belief. Freaking amazing! Also, Auryn Hadley never takes the easy road. There is a point in the novel when a tried and true, though trite trope about trust and betrayal, could have been employed to push the narrative forward, but she’s smarter than that. It served a moment of growth, but that’s it. They talked, they moved forward. Foreshadowing means nothing in her novels, because the story is always about something far bigger and more important. Think Rise of the Iliri - there was a moment in the first book when the FMC uses her skills to deceive a friend, yet instead of unraveling to tale and focusing on that, like so many novels would, it was a blip. It was addressed, and the character grew. That’s it. Trope averted. Power of Lies does the same, startling thing - in its own very unique way.Pros:- FMC: you love Jade, there is no other choice.- Sex is not love.... and that not so subtle message is truly conveyed here.- Trust is far more important, and precious.- Very well written- Very well edited- A black FMC! In a paranormal RH! 🤗 Never happens, and I love it!- in fact, the entire cast of characters could be considered racially diverse.Cons:- it’s not a con by any means, but pay attention to the trigger warnings. This book is graphic and meant for adults only.HOT!! Auryn Hadley doesn’t disappoint with her brand new series, The Dark Orchid Trilogy. She continues to write inspiring female characters that are undeterred by their circumstances and rise above. Jade is an empowering woman who never sees herself as a victim even though she could. Despite being a “whore” Jade’s self assurance is unwavering. She isn’t naive or severely jaded as often “whore” are written. She is incredibly observant and smart. I love that Auryn writes female characters that are okay relying on a man to help them, but perfectly capable of taking care of things on her own if they need to.I’m so glad this series is going to be released consecutively over the next few months. I cannot wait to see what is going to happen. I’m now equally invested in this series as I am all her others. This book was super hot. Seriously read in public at your own risk!
